RE: lube driveshaft?
Grant,
Yes, you should lube the driveshaft on your car if it is more than a few
years old. Mine was 10 years old before it got any grease! Not good, and I
think my center U-joint was goin' bad! There is a zerk in your center U-joint
(have to move car around to get it facing down, or you won't be able to get to
it/see it). BTW, It is best to do this on a rack or at least jack up the car
a little (but make sure it's lined up right before you start jacking it up,
etc).
You will also need a VW type zerk fitting (I think it may be called a
grease gun or something as well). And, some bearing grease. I tryed to shoot
some white lithium grease up in there. I don't think that works so well though
It most likely hasn't seen grease since it left the factory, and Audi never
does it as a part of thier maintenance, so give it a lube. I'm sure it will
need it! And, much cheaper than a driveshaft rebuild. Good luck!
