I have heard of problems with S4 trannys. I posted a question about a hum or
groan which seems to come from the rear of my car at hwy speeds. The
responses were along the lines of what you are saying. Apparently the S4 has
a chronic bearing installation problem prevalent in '92's. I spoke to a
mechanic in New Hampshire who has done a handful of these and has been
unsuccesful with any reimbursement from Audi.

There was one guy who wrote back to me who had been compensated, but I think
he was the original owner and the mileage was low.

I would still like to know if my hum is normal, I plan to attend the Brewpub
meeting in Waltham, MA next week as there is another S4 owner listed.
