A Word on Deer

If you are driving on mountain roads, your best best is probably REALLY
BRIGHT LIGHTS. I've always had roof lights on my F-150/250 & Broncos, and
basically lit the road up, so I could see the deer before they jump in front.
Of course, this would look rather tacky on an Audi.
But light 98% of the time will stop deer in their tracks, so you might
consider 150W bumper mounted rally lights, or something that would fit into
the body style of your car. For my Lincoln, I mounted two 5" 150W
sealed-beam lamps behind the grill.
They've always worked for me, and since I've gone the light route, I've
seen their eyes on the side of the road before I see the eyes on the
windshield.
What prompted this change in 1991 was hitting a large 7-point buck on the
Palisades Parkway in Upstate NJ at 65 MPH. His antlers made it to the
firewall, as the engine/tranny mounts broke free, well, you get the idea.
I can't say if those wistle things work or not, I would imagine not, as the
vehicle I hit the buck with had four of them on the bottom side of the bumper.
Sorry for your loss !
