Deer Proofing

Ok,
I'm not looking for any fights but I feel fairly confident on this
matter. While nothing is fool/froof, no slam intended on anyone, those
whistles DO ad a margin of safety. I worked as a Ski Instructor at a Ski
Mountain for 3 years and had to drive through some of the worst deer
territory I have ever seen every weekend, usually at night. FUn drive by
the way. :) At any rate, I used to literally see either a dead deer on
the road, or have one jump in front of me every trip up there. Sometimes
both happened. I decided for $5 or so, it was worth trying those
whistles. They worked. I would still see deer other people had hit but I
NEVER had one jump in front of me. If they were on the road, they would
slowly move away to the side when I came but they never jumped in front of
me.
There are right and left whistles, the gentleman who had them on
his car and still hit the deer could of put them on the wrong sides, or he
could of been driving WAY to fast, or been going too slowly for them to
work and not been watching where he was going. They only work above 30mph
and I assume stop working at some speed as well, as all they do is make a
frequency that they deer do not like.
At any rate, they have worked well for me and others that I know
but are not a gaurantee that they work. Also, I dont know what brands are
better if any, I assume they are all about the same. They won't scare the
deer off, but they will keep them from jumping up in front of you. Good
luck and I hope anyone who uses them has good luck with them. L8R
