somebody already mentioned this stuff. funny thing is, i always keep a box of
it around, it's great for improvising speaker gaskets, eliminating interior (of
the car) squeaks, etc. two months ago I stuck the logo back on the center of my
trunk lid (had to paint when changing spoiler) with it. it's still there.
3M Strip-Calk - part number 051135-08578 - 20 yds/pkg (1 foot lengths).
I paid about $10 for a package at an old-style (not pep boys, vip, etc.) auto
parts store. Most of the ingredients sound like clay, basically, but here
goes...
Kaolin, Polybutylene, Silica, Calcium Oxide, Aluminum Silicate, Aluminum Oxide,
Magnesium Oxide, Aluminum Stearate, Bentonite (what the heck is that?), Carbon
Black, Calcium Aluminum Silicate.
So I guess I'm all set for my tail light gasket repair job. One thing - this
stuff is hard to work with when it is cold and sticks to your fingers a bit,
takes a while to get used to working with it.
