 VOLKSWAGEN TO BUY ROLLS-ROYCE          
                                        
 The German car maker Volkswagen is to  
 buy the Rolls-Royce luxury car firm,   
 the German economic daily Handelsblatt 
 has reported.                          
                                        
 The paper said VW had been chosen by   
 Vickersin preference to BMW, General   
 Motors and Toyota.                     
                                        
 Handelsblatt, which is usually well    
 informed, did not say how much the     
 transaction would be worth.
