Well, not exactly 1000, but the Lancia Ypsilon (small car) can be had in
112 different colours, most of which seem to make the stomach turn. Morgan
in the UK offer 30,000 (!) different colours on their handbuilt cars, but
90% are still ordering British racing green.
Audis here are offered in about ten different colours, but through quattro
GmbH you can get anything you want- exterior as well as interior options,
special equipment, anything. Want a bright pink S4 Avant with green leather
interior? No problem, they'll even make you a roofrack for a hang-glider if
you want one. I'll see if I can get more info about pricing, haven't seen
any so far.

As far as colour 'taste' (or rather: fashion) is concerned, dark green
metallics are all the rage here. Also, we seem to see the return of
'seventies colours like orange-brown metallic. Yellow's quite popular for
sporty cars here now, while the mainstream goes for dark metallics.
White is quite out of fashion, it was quite popular in the 'eighties for
small cars. Red seems to survive all fashion periods, although used cars in
red aren't hot choices anymore. Pearl white is considered too gaudy by most
here. Dark purple metallic seems to have lost its attraction recently.

Most Audis here seem to be sold in dark green, dark red or dark blue
metallics, grey or black. Red is popular for the more sporting models, and
I've only seen one yellow Audi here. If you have the guts to be different,
you'd probably pay for it come selling time...
