Re: cooling intercoolers
I missed the earlier posts on this, but do have some experience with
cooling IC's. On my Corrado G60 the IC would become heat soaked quite
quikly, especially in stop and go runs. This obviously resulted in very
sluggish acceleration.
I was wandering through the salvage yard one day and noticed a Renault
Fuego Turbo. Having never really paid much attention to them previously,
I decided to have a looksie under hood. Hmmmm... what's this? The car has
this neat boost activated high speed fan mounted to the IC (which
happened to be built by the same manufacturer of the VW/Audi ICs). A
couple of Jacksons took the whole assembly home. I modified it to fit the
Corrado, and added a manual switch. Although I never did any real temp
testing, the car ran MUCH better around town on the hot days.
Just somthing to think about.
Later all,
