865KTQ HOT START PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I have been tearing my hair out over this, but Im sure you are all
familiar with the hot start problem I have been having through
previous posts... If you dont then read the next paragraph if you are
skip it and goto the results:
PROBLEM;
Would NOT start hot... not a peep just keep crankin' the car
didn't want anything to do with starting. Went to the AUDI Dealership
and was buying a temp sensor and asked the parts manager "Who is your
best Audi Mech.?" and he pointed to a guy and I talked to him. Told
him my problem and before I could get the words out of my mouth he
told me EXACTLY what my symptoms were.. "Let me guess he said, you go
into a store to get a cup of coffee and come out and it wont start or
starts crappy?" YUP That was it, "You needs injectors" he said. He
seemed SO confident by this that I ordered new ones, and after I put
them in if anything It made it worse. Now it wont even sputter when
cranked... I called this YO YO at the garage and said, "Dude I just
spent $180.00 (good price though, thanks to a fellow lister) and It
still wont start. all he had to say was "You have a vacuum leak" I
told him no way of the vast assortment of Snap-On and MAC Tools I have
I did have a vacuum Gauge. He had no other alternatives to look at.
SOLUTION;
I wrote a few e-mails, planned my trips carefully so that when I
needed my car it would be stone-cold, carried a screwdriver and a can
of either with me (just in case, I could force start it this way) and
Purchased the Bosch fuel injection handbook. BTW This book is good I
would recommend it, even if you don't have a problem its good to know
how things work. An e-mail came from a fellow lister Brett Augsburger,
and he went into alot of theory about fuel, and vapor lock. His
thinking was that the check valve was bad and the fuel next to the
injectors was turning to vapor. At first I was skeptical I must say
but the more and more I thought about it it made sense, I was in my
barn and took an old injector and threaded it into my blow gun, It
opened fine? What was wrong the thinking there was that the air
trapped behind the injectors was NOT compressed yet and when the fuel
pump turns on there is enough un-compressed air there to hold back
fuel.... (I should have known with A fine German name like Augsburger
he knew what he was talking about) Anyway, went to the dealer last
night saw my mechanic buddy told him I was buying a check valve, he
still insisted that it wasn't. I told him "There's the car, go start
it then smart guy... Of course it would not start... after a few min
of poking around he said "Let me know if that fixes it" Well I got
the car in the barn and changed the check valve, adjusted a ABS
sensor, (I put a spring in and a wheel bearing this weekend) and was
on my way, warmed the car up ... waited about 4min and BAM!!! IT
STARTED!!!!!!! PROBLEM SOLVED ..CHECK VALVE>>>> CHECK
VALVE......CHECK VALVE........ IM GONNA MOUNT THIS P.O.S. ON THE WALL.
IT KICKED MY BUTT FOR 2 WEEKS.......
THANKS TO EVERYBODY THAT GAVE THEIR .O2
