GAMMA radio Safe Codes...

Well, on a late Audi such as your, the code is pre-coded by the factory. One
trip to the dreaded dealer and your toons should be back in business.
Earlier VW and Audi radios were customer coded, which meant that if the
prev. owner coded it and forgot the code, you're screwed. BUT, I do know
that AUDI/VW take 'blown' radios in on trade for a new one at a reasonable
price. That must mean that the radios are able to be fixed. Plus, I heard it
is poss. to disable the SAFE feature. I've come across several radios that
can be discon. from power and plugged right back in without tripping the
SAFE feature. I also heard this from a service person at VW.
