RE: 4kq door locks

Here are some tips on r+r of door locks, since I just did mine.

Take the interior door panel off, it makes life sooo much easier.  If you 
have it, remove the pockets along the bottom of the door with Phillips 
screw driver.  Unscrew the door lock and then remove the plastic trim 
around the interior handle.  Use a small flat screwdriver to pop out the 
plastic cap to allow access to the screw.  Remove the arm rest, first by 
taking out the screws.  If you have power items on the arm rest, there is a 
plug inside the back of it, it's easier unplugging than plugging back in(a 
small flat screwdriver helps).  Then rotate the arm rest clockwise 
approximately 90 degrees, gently pull out.  Take off the plastic triangle 
at the front base of the window and take out the screw under it.  You are 
ready to take off the panel.  Start at the bottom, slipping again a small 
flat screwdriver between the panel and metal door.  Mine came off 
incredibly easy.  The top of the panel is secure in a track, just be 
careful sliding it out.  Once that is off, there is a plastic liner over 
the metal.  I cut mine with a razor to gain access to the inside of the 
door.  Put everything back together in reverse.  I used duct tape to seal 
the plastic I cut.  Having removed many interior panels from American 
vehicles, this job was a treat.  If you have any other questions, mail

Remove the small rubber access plug located nearby in the door
frame to see what has broken. This hole also gives you access
to the handle's rear mounting screws. I imagine some are pretty adept
at working magic through that little hole, but I usually end up removing
the inner door trim panel to work on this stuff.  If someone has some
good pointers on this, they would be worth repeating here.
