Climate Control...getting ready for final exit?

On the way home last night I attempted to change to climate control reading
from inside to outside temp..and nothing.  Then I attemped to switch it
from Auto to Econ and nothing...then it wouldn't turn off.  A couple of
"Oh, F**Ks" and a minute later everything returned to normal (except I
noticed my wallet had attempted to crawl up where I couldn't possibly reach
it without some serious lubricant).  Is this an early warning sign of
impending failure?   If one more expensive thing goes south before January
1st, I may just invest in a gallon of gas and a match, thereby creating the
first Molotov Quattro.
