Same symptoms as my old 90 of the same year.  Your car may be one of a group
subject to a recall to replace the ignition switch.  Call your any Audi
dealer, give them the VIN and ask if any recall work is open on the car.  If
so, they'll repair it free of charge.  Ask specifically about the ignition
switch recall.
