On my '88 5kCSQW I have found the switch quite easy to extricate from 
the armrest and quite simple to disassemble and clean.  I don't need 
to remove the armrest ... just carefully pry up on the ends with a wide 
blade putty knife ... piece of cake.

FYI, the system in my car will sometimes get into a mode where the 
memory seat does not appear to be working, but when this happens if 
you hold down the selection that you want and switch the system off 
and then on again it will work.
