The new Ferrari F355 has a true manual transmission that works through
paddles behind the steering wheel, a-la F1 gearboxes. The clutch is
electronically controlled and the gearbox has safeguards to prevent
over-revving. It is _very_ slick and works faster than even most experts
can shift a standard manual..something like a tenth of a second per shift.
I remember reading that Ferrari expects that most of its cars in the future
will come with this shifter rather than the standard one!
Best Wishes,
