Do Audi really make all their parts?

this :

Take a Ford Sierra front strut, the outer tube would be roll-stamped with one
of three different part numbers and additional text depending on the customer.
One number was for Ford OE, one for Motorcraft (Ford aftermarket) and one was
a Armstrong or Monroe number for motor factors and parts shops. The result
being that when the OE strut needed replacing, you could buy the same unit
(built from the same parts, in the same plant, on the same production line, by
the same workers) from Ford or Halfords or Quickfit etc etc and pay wildly
different prices.
