Loss of power in the wet.....
Hey all, anyway, at the end of the long journey up north, it was
especially wet. I went through several large puddles that soaked the
engine bay, and was stuck behind some cars that were throwing up A LOT of
water into the engine. then, when i turned off into the residential
area, the engine was very hesitant, and it was losing power. I thought
that if i left it be for a while, the problem would go away, so i went
into my friends house for about 2 hours. when i went back outside and
started the car, it was very rough idling and when i would put my foot on
the throttle, the engine would speed up then would drop RPM's. I had it
constantly at about 4000 RPM for about 30 seconds, and then it seemed to
clear up....
My question would be, what could have caused this, maybe the air filter
was soaked???
Also, sometimes when the car is cold, at part throttle acceleration,
there is a loss of power around 3500-4000 RPM and above where it seems to
lose about 40hp or more. Then after a few minutes the power returns.
any ideas????
Later all...TIA
