Drove the new '98 A6
My sister's boyfriend just took delivery of a brandy-new '98 A6.
Unbelievable. Fantasic. Tremendous. Though I think words fail.
All I've ever done is *read* about the tranny, but I took to it like a
fish to water; it is very inuitive. In 'manual' mode, the car hauls
a**, and loved to downshift. Drove it on a twisty mountain road; it ate
it up.
In full auto, it felt a little lazy, but still brisk and very, very
smooth.
It is built like a tank, feels like you are in a cocoon of titanium.
Creature comforts too numerous to mention, but I can honestly say, that
Audi thought of *everything*.
Not my car (I like 'em smaller, much smaller) but I was completely blown
away by the feel, handling, acceleration, and most of all, the faultless
transmission. *Nothing* shifts that smooth in real life, does it? And
this from a guy who hates auto trannies.
Wonderful experience.
