RE: The cooling, she no longer works
I'm not sure if you shorted the correct switch. There are in fact four
sensors in the vinicity of the upper coolant hose housing:
1) two with only one contact: these are temp sensor for the ECU and temp
switch for the ISV controller
2) one with two spade connectors at the back of the housing: this is the
thermoswitch for the after run fan. Shorting it should make the fan and
electric coolant pump run
3) a big one at the underside of the housing: it has 4 (early models) or
3 (late models) connectors and a big rubber boot. This is the multi
function temp sensor that controls the temp gauge and provides
"overheat" and "engine cold" signals to the ECU, auto check unit and AC
controller. Does not have any effect on the after run fan operation,
though.
