     maladjusted?  ill buy that! BUT!!!!!  there is a slotted hole in wich 
     the sensor gets adjusted.... I had it to the other extreeme .... that 
     being too far out in wich case after about 3 mi the abs off light goes 
     on..... what is the proper way to adjust these little buggers?

Yup, the 87 5ktqw I test drove not long ago did this. 
The consensus was malajusted or dirty ABS caps.
