   I'll bet someone put the wrong (1157, etc.) bulb in one side-- check
the numbers.  If not, clean the bulb sockets before messing with the
wiring.  If the sockets are coroded, check for water leakage around the
edges of the tail light assembly-- it's stuck to the body with black
gook, and if it's been removed & reinstalled carelessly, it could leak.
