leaky driveshaft seals

I own an 84 4ksq and I have started to notice small drops on my garage
floor.  I jacked it up and found the front driveshaft seal to be wet.
The rear seal is just sort of damp.  The car only drips a small drop
maybe once a night, but if you look at the driveshaft you can see where
the fluid has been spun around and sorta coated the under carriage.  I
talked to my local Audi mechs and they told me on a 13 year old car I
should expect this and as long as its not leaking a lot, just top it off
every several thousand miles.  Is this something I need to worry about
right away?  I'm taking a long (16 hour) road trip pretty soon and dont
want to trash anything.  Thanks for any input...
