Yes, I do: Dunlop SP-8000s, 235/40-17s up front and 215/45-17s in the back,
both on an 8" wide rim. I'm able to get away with this because the
difference in diameter between the front and back tires is less than 1% ...
less than the difference between a new tire and a worn out one. The
combination works very well and helps to reduce the car's natural tendency
to understeer ... it does look sort of weird, though, but most people don't
seem to notice. Graydon Stuckey has also had some success doing the same
thing on his 5ktq using 16" wheels.
(BTW, the only drawback I've noticed is the center diff sometimes takes a
bit long to unlock ... of course, I have the same problem when I run my
225/45-15 autocross tires on the OEM 8x15 rims so this may not be related to
the difference in tire diameter.)
