Speedline Clearcoat Help

As part of the change over from the wreck into my new 1991 90 20v
Quattro I have purchased a set of speedlines in need of repair.  They
have the usual clearcoat problems.  Here is the question:  I NEED TO GET
THE CLEARCOAT OFF.  DOES ANYONE HAVE A GOOD METHOD??  I have heard that
paint stripper woks but have no first hand knowledge.  Wanted to check
with you all before I shot out on my own.  Thanks for any tips you can
give me.
