Nefarious forces explained...

While the response to my post yesterday has been almost entirely
positive and most people took it in the spirit it was intended in, I am aware
that some may have been offended by my "laughing" at their expense.  If
so, I sincerely apologize and hope that I can convey that my listing of Qlist
calamities was by no means intended to demean, diminish, or otherwise
ridicule anyone.  Far from being an exercise in "thank God it wasn't me", I
hope that the list and the additional examples of unfortunate occurences
that have surfaced serve to alert everyone to the fact that:

1) Accidents can happen to anyone, but the risk can also be minimized.
2) The silly season is upon us, with overstressed drivers, slippery roads,
wild animals, and half-tanked people all serving to increase the risk of
driving.
3) Exactly as Pat Martin said, sometimes it is best to take a big overview
of everyone's misfortune, cast a somewhat playful light on it, and try to
laugh.  
4) I hate seeing Qlist people and their cars suffer the slings and arrows
after all of the work, TLC, emotion, and money they put into them.
