Urquattro - the saga continues...

Some of you listers may remember the 1990 Urquattro (20V) that I almost got
my hands on (actually did drive it) a month ago. Well, as it was, I could
have had it for FIM 170 000,- and I played cool and offered 160 000,-.
The next day some bozo (trust me) paid 180 000,- for it. Nothing against
dealers (I am one too), but this guy, as I already knew, did not buy the
car for quasi-religious reasons as I was attempting to do. Noooo, he is
going to sell it for a profit. Yes, I do stuff like that for a living too,
but this car deserves a proper home.

So, the car was advertised in the Helsinki paper yesterday by its new
rightful (???) owner, and I could not resist calling. Guess what he wants
for it?? 245 000 finnish beaver pelts (a little Canajian humor,
eh?)!!!!!!!! He is nuts!

I can buy a Sport quattro for around that kind of money form outside of the
country, take my chances driving it with dealer plates (would cost as much
to register properl) or take it to the track or rallysprints once in a
while. Christ, for DM 10 000, I can get a worn out mid-80's Urquattro in
Germany. Just because this is the only car in the country the guy tinks
its a bloody 959!!!

Anyhow, I told him to call me if he was not having any luck with his
selling efforts. He knows what I offered and what I turned down last
time...

In fact, maybe I'll order a new S4 Avant, Imola yellow with leather for a
demo, as now out TT('s) have been delayed until the fall. Maybe a new S4
should be worth twice what the guy wants for the Urq. A new S4 lists for
approx. FIM 500 000,- here, could probably have March delivery. It's just
not the same, as any gonad with the cash can get one, and they are
replaceable, too.
