Re: 3.6-4.2 V8 upgrade/Maine location

In a message dated 97-12-12 08:23:33 EST, you write:

<< Did anybody ever settle whether the guy with the broken timing belt
could upgrade to a 4.2 V8? I have a 3.6 in great shape but plan on keeping
the car awhile. I sure would like the extra 40 hp. The question went out
whether you could switch the wiring harness etc., but I don't recall an
 answer.
Also, I'm confused on Maine too. When I lived back East it was on the
Atlantic. Didn't all those lobsters put a fight when they made them move
 to the mountains?

It would be possible to swap the motors but here's some stuff to be careful
of:

The front body structure for the 4.2 carries a different part number than the
3.6
The rack and pinion are different part numbers
The final drive ratios are different from the 4.2 to the 3.6
Auto trans are a different part number, not sure but the difference might be
the final drive.
Axles/CV joints are differnet from the 4.2 to the 3.6

I imagine if you had a complete 4.2 to do the swap it could be done..
