90 V8 instrument cluster

Hi,
   My mechanic tells me that my dome lights won't work when I open the
door for the same reason my clock doesn't work. I apparently need a new
instrument cluster and the circuit board that resides there. It took him
seven hours to find this problem but the good soul only charged me for
three. 
   Team doorhandle must have figured out to put the dimmer control in the
instrument panel behind the dash. I've never heard of anybody else putting
it there.   
    The mechanic's trying to source a used one for me. The dealer wants
$1000 for a factory rebuilt. The one the mechanic has from a 200 turbo
won't work. Anybody want to sell one?  Best, Larry
