Soon to be proud owner of 80 q

Dear soon to be fellow q owners, I looked at the 80 q I mentioned the other week
this morning and it looked reasonable for the 900 gbp the owner is asking, sooo
I kinda paid him a deposit and will pick up the car either this week or next.
It is in much better condition than my 80 sport and a friends 80 q that cost him
over a grand so I feel it is a fair deal. It has had a recent clutch and mc
replacement (heh heh) and receipts for brake bits and bobs and a recent couple
of new exhaust sections. It has 107 ish thousand miles on it (registered in '84)
which is fine by me. The owner has recently bought valve stem seals and he may
chuck them in with the car (lucky me!!) as there is a bit of smoke on teh
overrun. It also has the seats from a coupe q, the cloth ones, they are in nice
condition and look much better than the standard 80 q seats.

It is not as quick as my sport but feels stacks more solid and I can live with
the loss in outright speed. It does however sound great, much better than the
four cyl in my car. I am sure that given a few weeks I will be tentatively
asking how do you actually replace subframe mounts (they were looking like they
could do with replacing) but for the moment and certainly until I pick the car
up, I am in a good mood!

What is the little green light on the dash that comes on for a few minutes after
start up?? Apparrently it is to remind you not to over rev it when cold??

Anyone know anyone who would like to buy an 80 sport?? It is still quick after
20k miles and in good mechanical condition...... (I have bills for nearly a
grand spent since April, shudder) I'll be sad to see it go, my first car an all
that, but it's big brother will be nice to me I am sure.

Oooh, isn't it exciting?

Cheers for the replies to the post asking about what I should do a few weeks
ago.

Graham.
