A URq with an oil addiction -the continuing saga.
The continuing saga of my oil addicted URq.
Well after spending god knows how many thousands of $$ on my cylinder
head and turbo both of which appeared to be responsible for the clouds
of blue smoke out the back, I am back to square one. New Valves,
Guides and Turbo Have made NO difference !
Symptoms are exactly the same as before the work, namely
NO BLUE smoke when engine is below "normal" operating temperature.
When "normal" is reached on the temp gauge the URq does a great
impression of James Bonds DB6 in "From Russia With love" !.
At a constant Idle when warm, the car spews blue smoke - as if its
having oil poured gently down the air intake.
Once warm, it blows a cloud of blue smoke on the over run bigger than
anything seen this side of the Antarctic. I mean this thing is going
to have Greenpeace after me soon !!.
Compressions are all good, hot, cold, whenever.
Does any one have any ideas on the following -
This is a dead standard English Spec 1985 URq - WR engine - no anti
smog equipment etc..only ever been tampered with by experts (
hhhmmmmmmm ).
What's the nature of a WR engine crankcase ventilation system -
anything that has a temperature sensor connected ??.
Is it possible that the temperature sensor could send a signal to the
engine control system that would cause an event that would result in
oil burning ? Perhaps the mixture gets set wrong and the bores get
washed ? or the timing gets set incorrectly ??
Will they run without a PCValve in place
I'm now clutching at straws and am just about ready to throw all my
toys out of the cot and set the %#$ing thing on fire. ( sorry Dave )
I haven't ( yet ) a manual of any sort - does any one have a good
engine bay schematic that I can beg steal or borrow ?.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
