Exhaust Manifolds
Some thoughts fir ya:
* The Dynalynx Manifold is the same price (or more) than the 2 piece from
Linda
* The two piece flows very well in stock trim, EH is expensive and not really
necessary here, and not going to give you the gains you may think. Remember
EH is NOT a science, it is a dumb Fluid. So, you can 'hope' that the area
ratio of the nozzles to the throat (collector) remain as designed, chances are
they don't. Given the choice, EH of the intake is money better spent. Don't
forget to address reversion correctly.
* For the guy that used 5 manifolds, doubt those were manifold problems. I
would recommend a check of your right side engine and trans mounts.
* Heat coating works well when the engine is running, increasing the exhaust
velocity. When an engine stops running, that coating becomes an insulator.
Given the exhaust and underhood temps, not sure I'd consider the heat coating
a great thing. I've responses from both sides on "benefits" of this mod.
None indicate an increase in "performance". Some a decrease in measurable
heat, some with really cracked manifolds post coating. Some performance data
might convince one more on the benefits of this action. Until then, take a
pass.
* The 2 piece manifold flows better than the single piece, even with EH.
* Jeff, I would get the single piece machined flat and run with it. You
already have it, might as well put it on
* The 2 piece DOES work on the Urq, just a tight fit, and some minor grinding
work
On the k26 with coating
* The tighter the tolerance between the wheel and the housing, the better
your turbocharger will perform. So, coating has some benefits in this theory,
not sure if the "other advantages" propagandized have the benefits claimed...
Avoid EH of the housings, this only increases the tolerances, btdt.
* If you are going to use the RS2 on the Urq, the 2 piece might be worthy of
serious consideration, as would some head work. Give me a call on this if
you'd like to discuss further...
