my car misses me

The new owner called today to let me know that my 84 4kq
was idling nicely in the driveway, until he came outside
and it died, refusing to restart.  Sheesh.
I feel terrible because I don't want him to think I am
pulling a fast one.  He says the fuel pump is running,. 1/4
tank of gas from a reputable station, smells fuel.
I told him to check for spark, but what else could it be from
one minute to the next?  He did say it was snowing, perhaps
moisture got in the dist cap or something?
