Re: AUDI TURBO "FUEL STARVATION"

Hi Renier,

It would seem that this might be relating back to your WG mod. The
ECU should cut back on the fuel as far as I understand. Someone
on the list should verify that. The mod that gets done in the ECU
when going for higher boost is to modify that fuel pump cutoff
tables. Since you're running high boost and fooling the computer
the ECU is cutting back and you see it in starvation. Perhaps
Scott M. or Igor can help verify this, it is just my understanding
from the learning on the list that this ECU will cut back as it
thinks you've reached full boost already, fooling it and running
higher boost won't make things look happy at all.

To this end, if one goes to higher boost and raises the fuel cutoff
tables to higher levels, would it not be beneficial and safer to fit
a higher capacity pump? I mean, there are several manufacturers who
make racing pumps that really flow high volumes of fuel, why not
upgrade the pump to one of these? That way one keeps everything the
same, but the pump doesn't have to work that hard. If it has to force
more fuel through then one can be assured that it will do so with
minimal stress as it will have been designed for a heck of a lot more.
What are the thoughts on that?

As for fuel filter, if I remember correctly, the 200T has 2 fuel
filters. One at the tank and the other is the fat silver canister
at the fuel distributor. Has anyone ever fitted a K&N billet fuel
filter? They supposedly have much better flow and filtering, same as
their air filter systems.

Anyway, maybe you should relax on this car a bit and don't force it
too much until you can do something about the ECU program. I have
dumped the ROM for the MAC-13A, still in binary format. I have been
looking all day for a bin-to-hex dumper so that I can get it in a
decent form for Scott M. and myself. It takes about 2 seconds to
dump the code, about 30 seconds to write. I am currently running a
duplicate in my car. If I can get hold of a hex dumper then I'll
still be able to send the code to Scott M. today and see what he
can figure out. I will then burn a chip for you if all goes well,
I'm not paying for the 2764 here so I'll just send it to you.
