Subject: My Ur-Q blew its top...

This morning, while out for a quick drive with a friend and his
'86 944
Turbo, I blew my heater valve.

I'm sorry to hear about the head problems. I had a similar
problem but didn't loose the gasket, thank God. Let this be a
wake-up call to UrQ owners. It is so easy to install an original
temp gauge in-place of the boost gauge. I highly recommend
that UrQ owners get a VDO, or similar, boost gauge and use
the space in the dash to fit the temp gauge from a 4000 series.
It only took one overheat to teach me this. The warning/ idiot
light didn't come on until coolant was spewing all over the road.
I posted the details a couple of months back, all you need is
the gauge and the sender, all the wiring remains intact (OK
you loose the cold warning light) I know it works for the older
styles and I'm pretty sure it works for the newer 85's and up.
Take care,

Andrew Finney.
