I have a VDO boost gauge in that space on my 87 5kt. The cosmetic aspect
of the install is as yet unfinished. Eventual plan is to include oil temp
and pressur gauges as well, and to relocate the seat-heat/defog switches,
then finish it off with a trim panel cut from a radio-delete plate. The 2"
chrome-rimmed gauges give it a certain "retro" quality in concordance with
the door handles and wood shift knob...
I did have to cut the metal behind the coin box lid, however.
