The rack on my 86 5kCSq lasted 190k at which
point the car was T-boned at an intersection and totalled. No leaks, no
problems.
The fact that the impact was
on the drivers door and I walked away with only a bang on the side of the head
is one reason I now drive a 91 200q. Gotta love those anti-penetration
beams!
