Not to offend you guys or anything, but working in the car biz for a couple
of months has taught me that "invoice price" really doesn't mean much
unless your have some insight into the programs that are beng run at the
time from the manufacturer. There are hold-backs and all sorts of
incentives to sell cars that aren't printed on the invoice at all.
Furthermore, this guy says "invoice *plus* selling price." What the heck is
that supposed to mean anyway?
I've shown customers invoices for a car that indicate he/she is paying a
few hundred over invoice. In reality, the manufacturer kicked us back a
grand in holdback. It's a weary world out there.. and please realize that
telling he's not giving you real invoice prices. Trying to get from the
dealer what he/she actually paid for the car is like pulling teeth. I've
been selling now for 2 months, half the time I have NO CLUE what we own the
car for, and I work there!
This guy may be legit, but use caution when he so readily offers you
"invoice price" and be sure that when and if you sign anything.. it's at
the price you agreed on without add ons. Nobody sells a car to lose money.
Never.
