?

It has no external mechanical input - where was it leaking from?

As for Cossies - I went to Sheffield the weekend before last for an
old mate's 50th. I think I might have blasted his daughter's life
(lovely girl) by taking her boyfriend for a 'spin' in the ur-quattro.
Dore to Over Owler Bar (the Bakewell road out of Sheffield) and back
- I just _love_ the elongated traffic island at Over Owler Bar, right
on the summit of the moors and with curves of every radius. Bit of
a party piece of mine ...

The evening before he'd been ridiculing the idea that a car might keep
up with a bike. He kept repeating: "But the road's wet" like a mantra.

Anyway, I delivered the laddie back to his girl with a totally amazed
look in his eyes - "I _WANT_ one!" - "I've _GOT_ to have one!"

Another young marriage blighted with the quattro curse.

On the way back I was passed by a Sierra Cosworth doing 100+ in the
roadworks south of Norman Cross near Peterborough. I rang HM Filth
and reported it - they seemed to know and were tracking him south.
Obviously pinched.

Thank heavens for quattro stealthiness - the article in Volkswagen Audi
Car is very welcome, as long as only potential thieves and not
potential buyers believe it.
