RE: Ceramic Coating for lower underhood temps - YES

<I had been talking to one of the guys at a local speed shop and he had

Yes, I believe this is true. I would not suggest using wrap on a tubular
mild steel header. *Might* be OK on SS headers and/or cast manifolds
like most of our TQs have. I do know someone that has used wrap with
success on a TQ Pro-Rally car. Personally, I would not use it at all on
my street TQs. I do suggest that wrap would be more effective, lower
cost and easier to install and replace Vs coating when it comes to
lowering underhood ambient temps.
I have used it and continue to use it on the dual 2 1/2" downpipes and all the way
back on my 73 RA IV 455HO 'Bird with no observed ill effects, but,
this is a fair weather only car and never sees rain, let alone sno & salt.
The wrap has been on these pipes for like 8 years now. I installed it #1, to
reduce heat in the cabin and #2 for performance.
