batery and computer???

Hello everyone,
	I have a newish problem with my 87 5kCSqT.  About a month ago the on board
computer started to give me weird readings. Like 200mpg and 1300 miles till
outta gas.  All the problems had to do with inaccurate reading of the speed
of the car, it was really high.  But, the gas spent and the boost were
fine.  Now, the battery drains completely over night.  And, the computer is
completely inoperative too.  I was thinking that there might be a short
there, if anyone has any more sugestions AND a good way to "opperate"
