Tire performance aside, Sean raises the issue of performance vs. money.
In my experience, this is an exponential relationship, not a linear one.
The "best" may only have 25% higher performance than "good" but
cost twice as much or more. The closer you get to the ultimate the
faster the price rises. That last humanly possible 1% of performance
could cost 20 times more than "good."
