4ksQ timing advance assitance please

I am without timing light and am interested in adjusting the distributor 
to advance the timing.  For any of you out there, how much did you 
physically turn the distributor to achieve the desired results.  I dont 
really know about degrees and all of that stuff...im ignorant, i 
know....i am interested in the distance that one point on the distributor 
was moved in order to advance the timing...thanks all....
