Ur quattro book - warning

In the January issue of Volkswagen Audi Car there appears an advert offering
books of reprinted Volkswagen Audi Car road tests and features for specific
Volkswagen and Audi models. Sounds OK so far doesn't it, especially when one
of the books covers the Ur quattro.

Here's the warning - these are of a very poor standard. When I buy a book
advertised as containing "60-70 pages of reprints" from a full colour
magazine that is exactly what I expect to get, not 60-70 pages of monochrome
printing of a quality that I associate with a poor photocopier - in fact,
some of the photographs are so dark that I have extreme difficulty making
out exactly what the subject actually is. Considering that this book has
been produced by not one but two professional publishing outfits the result
is very disappointingly amateur. Given the easy availability of good quality
colour scanners and printers these days I believe that given access to the
original material or at worst a copy of the original magazines anyone could
produce a much better product.

My advice is that unless you are a quattro junkie and desperately need to
own a copy of everything every written about the Ur quattro you can easily
find something better on which to spend your money.
