Re: Audi or should I say idua A6 review
In a message dated 97-12-21 13:24:26 EST, the Chicago Tribune A6 review is
quoted thusly:
<< As the reviewer said--for $41k it puts the car into the E-series range, and
while it is a nice car it is not an E-series. >>
The Tribune's reviewer (Jim Mateja) should, and does, know better. A bare-
naked E300D (diesel) which nearly nobody in the U.S. is willing to buy, costs
$41,800. The more appropriate comparison might be an E320, starting at
$45,500, but well over $50,000 when comparably equipped. Or try the 4Matic
version to equalize for quattro. It starts at $48,250 and gets to around
$53,000 when comparably equipped.
I guess the question is, What do you want for $41,000+, an absolutely top-of-
the-line A6 with every option, or an entry-level E-Class diesel? To my mind,
the A6 is a mightly nice car in the $34-41,000 range. The E-Class is also a
mighty nice car, but it doesn't start being mighty nice until you have
$45-55,000 to spend.
