"To my mind, the A6 is a mightly nice car in
the $34-41,000 range. The E-Class is also a
mighty nice car, but it doesn't start being mighty nice until you have $45-55,000 to spend." The problem I have is that the A6 is the newest
car in this market but it hasn't seemed to even match its rivals let alone
surpass many of them (unlike the A4 and the A8). I think Piech stated that
VW would be going after Mercedes and Audi would be aimed at BMW. Unless
one lived in Alaska or the Rockies, I can't imagine a reason for choosing the A6
over the 5 series BMW. The 528i is in the low 40s and much, much faster
and just as luxurious. I love my quattro. But let's be honest - the
quattro system shines only in poor conditions and poor conditions are not the
time to drive aggressively,
etc.
