Hi John,
I have similar "clunk" that has been driving me nut.  I have taken my
'90 90q20v to several shops but no one could find out what the problem
is.

Question, how would transmission oil, or diff.oil cause this "cluck" ?
When you say "drivetrain" slop, where exactly would the slop be within
the drivetrain that cause the "clunk" ?

Any cause for serious concern ?
