Aaaargh! Yet more damage!

Hi all,

This week got off to a rather bad start for me- when I tried to open my car
to drive to work this morning, I noticed that some lowlife had forced the
door lock with (apparently) a large screwdriver. Keyhole enlarged to four
times its usual size, door handle bent and so much force applied that the
door was dented around the handle.

Nope, he didn't succeed. Nope, I don't have an alarm, nor were there any
valuables in my car. I've caught myself accidentally leaving the car
unlocked for days on end in the past, but nothing has ever happened before.
And the girl next door's Golf (dead easy to get into with a screwdriver)
was totally untouched.

For now, I'm entering my car through the passenger door (no central locking).
Next task: replace damaged lock assy, fit immobilizer, wait for next thief
to show up whilst holding a rather large loaded gun.

Conclusion: Audi's lock construction may have come in for some criticism in
the past, but it's not easy to break into...

Tom (shaken, but stirred)

PS Unrelated, but Walter Roehrl won the 'veterans' class in this year's
'Race of the Champions' in Spain. Nice going! (Carlos Sainz beat Colin
McRae in the regular class)
