A fellow here in Portland had similar problems with his '87 5ktq.  In his
case a bad wheel bearing had enough "slop" (tech. term) to cause the ABS to
stay off.  He swapped my known good ABS control unit into his car a couple
of times because he was sure he checked everything else out.  I haven't
heard of those ABS boxes failing, but you never know...
