I used a "Mercedes Benz" valve that my mechanic gave me ("the MB
engine compartments are full of these things, try it and let me
know how it works"). I hooked it up via a three-position toggle
with "down" driven by the normal AC switch (the "auto" position;
open for heat/fresh air, closed for AC operation), "center-off"
to force the valve open (fresh air even with AC; semi-pointless
I suspect), and "up" for forced closed even with heat (usefull
when following a smoking semi, etc.)

I suspect there are cheaper sources than actually *buying* a MB
electric valve . . .
