Door lock problem....
Hi!
On my 200t with central locking the 2 rear doors make loud *click*
noises when the locking is applied. What you hear is the locks going
to work and then there sounds like a bit of too much pressure being
applied and then the loud click sound. I tried this with the
doors open, just to check if it was the door striker that might be
causing the problem as the left rear door striker seems to be leaving
some scratch marks on the door panel where it meets the lock
mechanism. So, I leave the door open and apply the central locking.
I watched the lock catches on the mechanism, first I put them into the
closed position as they would be if the doors were closed. As the stress
sound happens I can see the catches being pulled down a bit and there
is a small bit of release when the click happens. I don't mind the
damn click, but what gets to me is the fact that upon unlocking the
door the door handle will not release the locking mechanism and will
not budge until I reach in a lift up the latch on the door trim. It
is as if the mechanism is broken in some way or the vacuum valve on
the inside of the door panel is bust. I removed both rear door's
panels and looked at the valves and tubing. All seems fine, except the
right rear door's tubing into the valve didn't seem to on all the way.
So I push it on all the way....and now the right rear door makes the
clicking noise, but doesn't do the same thing as the rear left door
which remains stuck until you pull up the latch.
Has anyone experienced this problem with the locks? What was the fix?
Or do I simply replace the whole locking mechanism and valves?
